GVC Holdings secures Romania ONJN licences

RomaniaUpdating the market, FTSE-listed GVC Holdings (GVC) has confirmed that it has secured a Romanian National Gaming Office (ONJN) allowing it to operate sports betting and casino services for the regulated Romanian online gambling market.

Its secured licence will be set for an initial period of 10-years, with GVC promoting Romanian online gambling services through its subsidiary brand Sportingbet.

GVC governance has further announced that it has also been additionally granted a Class 2 licence to supply software, affiliate marketing and hosting services through fully owned subsidiary Headlong Limited.
GVC  has previously operated its Sportingbet brand in Romania under the terms of an interim licence, which was granted on 1 September 2015. The company detailed that it licences will come into effect from 1 September 2016.

Kenneth Alexander, Chief Executive of GVC Holdings, commented on the Romanian market:  “We are delighted to have been awarded a permanent licence in Romania. It is an attractive and growing market where the Sportingbet brand is increasingly popular. We are focused on developing our product line there in order to attract new customers and grow our business.”
