Belgium blacklist to include gambling related apps

Kansspelcommissie, Belgium’s Gambling Commission may sanction gambling and sports betting relted mobile apps to be blacklisted. The Belgian commission is currently reviewing marketing policies and frameworks with regards to the Belgian igaming market.

The commission had stated to Belgium news sources that it would review both real money and social gambling apps which are readily available to Belgian consumers.

Of particular concern to the commission were casino and sports betting themed free social apps which according to commission members lower the bar for people seeking to participate in gambling related services. The commission further highlighted the easy access to gambling apps from underage consumers.

Belgium currently operates a blacklist for unlicensed igaming and sports betting operators who are deemed to have illegally targeted national consumers. Kansspelcommissie outlined that the blacklist should be extended to include social gambling and real money apps.

The commission has further requested that national mobile operators police and monitor advertising of betting apps to Belgian consumers.
