DraftKings gears up for full Australia launch

Leading daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings has launched its Australian enterprise, continuing its corporate expansion beyond its home US marketplace.

Planning to fully launch its Australian DFS product during Q2 2018, DraftKings will operate under a Northern Territory Racing Commission – NTRC license.

At present, DraftKings leadership remains quiet with regards to its upcoming Australian DFS proposition, and what sports audiences the company will choose to target.

The firm’s Australian entry, sees it continue Chief Executive Jason Robins’ ‘international vision’, having reached ‘peak DFS saturation’ in the US competing against market rival FanDuel.

“Within the last few years, Australia’s burgeoning fantasy sports market has dramatically evolved, adding a variety of daily fantasy sports platforms, feeding the appetite of the many passionate sports fans who love getting closer to the teams, athletes and sports they love.” Robins detailed on DraftKings Australian market launch.

Entering the Australian market, DraftKings is set to compete against established market incumbents, MoneyBall, PlayUP, SportsChamps and DraftStars.

“Australia is an important market for DraftKings, as it combines devoted sports fans with sophisticated, tech-savvy consumers – exactly the kind of people who love competing on DraftKings.”
