Mr Green makes Spanish debut with DGOJ licence

William Hill’s pan-European igaming subsidiary Mr Green has secured its Spanish market entry after receiving a licence from the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ).

The new market entry will strengthen William Hill’s presence within the Spanish market by building upon the bookmaker’s multi-brand strategy to deliver online gaming and casino content.

The FTSE betting group has maintained a presence in the Spanish market since 2010 through its flagship sportsbook brand Williamhill.es.

Patrick Jonker, MD William Hill International and CEO of Mr Green Ltd commented: “This is an important milestone within our strategy. With the launch of Mr Green in Spain, we look forward to expanding our offer by expanding our already strong presence within Sports Betting, with one of the strongest Casino brands in the industry.

“With the combination of two industry leading brands, we look forward to delivering the best player experience within Sports and Gaming.”

Mr Green is the flagship European online gambling brand of MRG Group, a former Stockholm-listed igaming enterprise which was acquired by William Hill at the start of 2019 in a deal worth €270 million.

The acquisition of Mr Green was regarded as a significant strategic step by William Hill, who secured a multi-market online casino brand to help the UK betting group expand its international presence and profile.
