The M&A scene has come to US gambling publishing, as USBets confirms that it has moved to acquire competitor Sports Handle (SportsHandle.com).

The undisclosed sum transaction, sees USBets expand its gambling resources network with Sports Handle added to its publishing portfolio which includes leading state-specific portals NJ Online Gambling and PennBets (Pennsylvania).

In its acquisition notice, USBets confirms that Sports Handle Founder & Editor-in-Chief Brett Smiley will join the firm’s executive leadership team.

“Sports Handle is second to none in its coverage of the rapidly changing sports betting industry in the U.S., and I am thrilled to be bringing the site into the USBets’ network,” said Adam Small, CEO of USBets.

“Brett possess a high level of industry knowledge that will be tremendously valuable to our team. Our goal at USBets is to be the world’s best source of news and analysis on the U.S. gambling industry. Adding a top-notch website and two outstanding content creators advances our position in what is becoming an increasingly crowded field.”

Heading towards 2019, the race is on for industry publishers and media owners to develop news/information networks supporting US gambling’s new operational structure post-PASPA.

Updating stakeholders, USBets states that it has acquired a leading property and knowledge resource for US sports betting, providing audiences with the most in-depth news coverage on legislative and regulatory developments, with Sports Handle referenced as a gambling authority by major US news networks.
