Following last week’s announcement of its $275 million Series E venture round funding, daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator FanDuel has confirmed the acquisition of Scottish app development studio KotiKan.
FanDuel who stated that it would use its raised funds to further develop in-house development and delivery competencies, acquired the Edinburgh based mobile development studio who have worked on FanDuel mobile properties.
Kotikan had helped FanDuel develop an award winning mobile DFS product, which has ranked amongst the highest downloaded apps on Google Play and Apple app Stores.
Founded in 2007 by software developer Gavin Dutch, Kotikan has grown to become Scotland’s largest mobile app development agency, reaching 56 employees, a turnover of £2.4 million and EBITDA of £570,000. Kotikan clients include Skyscanner, Standard Life and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

FanDuel continues its development expansion, which has seen the operator open offices in Orlando following the acquisition of Zynga’s defunct fantasy sports team.
The Edinburgh founded operator, which leads the DFS market, this week announced that it had signed agreements for new accommodation to be built at the Quartermile, on the site of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The new office will have capacity for 500 Edinburgh staff members
