Operator RockYou have acquired both Solitaire Arena, and Solitaire 3 Arena, two separate social casino based apps from MavenHut.

This is a continuation of RockYou’s successful strategy of taking on games that other companies have decided are not worth the hassle, and making them profitable. In doing so RockYou has become one of the most active buyers of gaming content at present.

This growth is expected to continue too after it was announced earlier this year that Columbia Capital had invested $23m (£14.7m) in funding in the San Francisco based interactive media firm.

RockYou CEO Lisa Marino said in a statement: “With Columbia Capital’s vote of confidence, we now have the flexibility to build our business even more aggressively.”

Discussing this most recent acquisition from MavenHut with GamesBeat, Marino stated: “This doubles our daily active reach in the U.S. We are excited about what we can do. We love casual casino games and this fits squarely in that space.”

The deal will significantly expand the amount of daily users of the RockYou community, and thus the amount to which it can broadcast the various ads it shows across platforms. Both Solitaire Arena, and Solitaire 3 Arena are popular multiplayer solitaire games which are available on both Android and iOS.

The apps’ creators, MavenHut, will not be moving over to RockYou. MavenHut are a gaming company from Ireland with development studios in Romania. Solitaire Arena was launched on Facebook in 2012, during the social casino gaming buzz period.

MavenHut CEO, Bobby Voicu, said of the news: “We knew that our Solitaire community will be greatly cared for as we transition our focus on developing new titles. We want these classics to live on, and RockYou is enabling us to do just that.”
