Technology news source Venturebeat.com have broken the news that King social games and mobile lead developer Tommy Palm has left the company to set up Resolution Games.
Tommy Palm is recognised as the social gaming guru who created the Candy Crush Saga, King’s highest grossing game. In its latest quarter the company announced that the 3-match puzzle game had generated an estimated $250 million
The Swede is one of the leading figures in social and mobile games development announced to Venturebeat that he had left to set up Resolution Games with fellow games veterans Martin Vilcans and Carl-Arvid Ewerbring. The start-up will concentrate on creating virtual reality entertainment.
Palm commented on his departure “It was a hard decision to leave King. It’s a really fantastic company, the best company I have worked at. But I really like starting companies.”
Palm who was hired by King in 2012, is not only cited as the mastermind behind the creation of Candy Crush Saga, he also played a substantial part in developing King’s mobile gaming portfolio, which substantially augmented the social games operator’s audience
