Following this morning’s official resignation by Prime Minister David Cameron,  William Hill has installed Boris Johnson as even-money favourite to become the next elected Conservative leader following David Cameron’s resignation.

William Hill’s have cut Johnson’s odds from 11/4, and make Theresa May 7/2 second favourite, with Michael Gove 9/2, Andrea Leadson 12/1, Priti Patel and Stephen Crabb both 16/1; George Osborne, Philip Hammond and Sajid Javid all 20/1; Amber Rudd and Ruth Davidson both 25/1.

The bookmaker now makes the Conservatives 11/10 to win an overall majority at the next General Election, with Hung Parliament at 11/8; a Labour majority 4/1.

Jeremy Corbyn is now 6/4 to lead Labour into the next General Election, 1/2 to be replaced

William Hill say that the EU Referendum was the biggest political betting event ever with some £20million gambled with Britain’s fixed odds bookmakers.

‘The result was profitable for our political punters’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘69% of all the moeny we took was for Remain, but 69% of all the individual bets were for Leave.’
