William Hill Vegas sponsoring Joshua-Whyte fight

William Hill Vegas has signed a deal with Matchroom Boxing to sponsor the highly anticipated match between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte on 12 December at the O2 arena.

Tickets for the British and Commonwealth title showdown between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte sold out within hours of going on sale in September.

The heavyweights have been trading verbals for some time and Whyte (16-0) is determined to upset the odds and derail the rise of Olympic champion Joshua (14-0) when they finally meet again.

Whyte holds an amateur win over Joshua and has made no secret of his determination to repeat the dose in the professional ranks.

Chief support on a bumper night comes from Chris Eubank Jr’s WBA World Middleweight title eliminator with fiery Irishman Spike O’Sullivan, while Joshua’s fellow gold medallist Luke Campbell MBE, Liverpool Cruiserweight Tony Bellew and London’s Kevin Mitchell all feature in big fights on the bill.

Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Sport, said: “We are delighted to have William Hill Vegas backing ‘Bad Intentions’ on December 12 at The O2. The main event between Joshua and Whyte is the biggest fight of the year in Britain, with two young, hungry and unbeaten Heavyweights with no love lost looking to prove they are the best of British – it’s going to be a fantastic night.”

Alex O’Shaughnessy, Chief Marketing Officer at William Hill, added: “Bad Intentions is going to be the biggest British boxing show of the year and we’re delighted to be associated with this highly anticipated sporting event. Vegas is synonymous with the sport of boxing and we believe the William Hill Vegas brand is an ideal fit for our first venture into big time boxing.”

While this is William Hill’s first foray into professional boxing – it is also involved in amateur boxing through its 3-year deal with the Haringey Box Cup – one of Europe’s largest amateur boxing competitions. The Haringey Box Cup brings together young amateur boxers from around the world to compete in a 4 day event at Alexandra Palace.
