EA has announced the launch of a purely eSports division of the company which will be known as the Competitive Gaming Division, or CGD.
In his new role as Executive Vice President and Chief Competition Officer at EA, Peter Moore will head up the CGD. EA boasts such titles as Madden, Battlefield, and of course Fifa and will be looking to promote these initially to get the ball rolling.
Todd Sitrin will work alongside Moore, Sitrin has worked for EA on global marketing projects for the past fourteen years. These two, along with the rest of the CGD team, will focus on growing the community of players, developing live events, broadcasting and creating exciting eSports competitions.
With the news of this launch EA is expected to release more games that feature a competitive edge, specifically in the MOBA genre.
