bet365 owners the Coates family have been ranked 24th in The Sunday Times Richlist for 2016, with an estimated wealth of £3.8 billion.
The UK newspaper reports that Denise (CEO), brother John (Co – CEO) and father Peter (Chairman) combined wealth gained £1.4 billion in the past twelve months, moving the Coates into the top 25 richest people living in Great Britain.
Denise Coates, who transformed bet365 from a regional retail based bookmaker to one of the UK’s most successful digital businesses, was labelled ‘Britain’s richest self-made woman’.
At present Stoke based bet365 is valued between £3.5 – £4 billion mark with the betting firm reporting + £400 million in profits for fiscal 2015. Denise Coates is the company’s largest shareholder with 50% equity, with the Coates family controlling 93% of bet365 holdings.
Ranking 24th the Coates are highest placed digital enterprise owners featured in The Times Richlist beating closest rival and fellow gambling tycoon Mark Sheinberg former owner of PokerStars who ranks 38th with £2.9 billion wealth.
Teddy Sagi founder of Playtech Plc, breaks into the Richlist top 50 (position 44) with a fortune estimated at £2.5 billion.
The Done brothers (Fred and Peter) owners of bookmaker Betfred break into the top 100 (position 82) with a combined wealth of £1.3 billion up £300 million on 2015’s ranking.
