Betclic eyes Belgium re-entry

betclicbelgiumBelgium news sources have reported that French sports betting operator Betclic Everest Group (Betclic) is collaborating with the national Gambling Commission with a view of re-entering the market.

The operator has had a troubled history with Belgium’s authorities who in February 2014 seized €600,000 of Betclic funds, stating that the unlicensed operator had breached gambling laws by digitally transacting with national consumers.

French licensed and Malta operated Betclic has been on the national operator blacklist since 2012. The Belgian Gambling Commission (BGC) has further issued consumer fines to Betclic customers for interacting with the operator.

Betclic governance have moved to cooperate with the commission as national news source have reported that the operator has agreed to pay €80,000 in order to cover outstanding fines. The operator hopes that the commission will drop charges of  €150,000 made against its operations

Furthermore Betclic governance has begun talks to partner with Belgian land-based gambling operator Circus Groupe in order to create a national partnership. Belgian betting laws require digital enterprises to have a land-based presence, which can be obtained via a joint partnership. Commencing its collaboration with the BGC, Betclic management hopes to launch licensed online gambling products by the end of the year.
