Matthew Tripp Acquires Betezy

trippBusiness man Matthew Tripp, ex owner of Australian focused sports betting operator Sportsbet.com.au will re-enter the Australian sports betting market.

Having just finished his non-compete clause from the sale of Sportsbet.com.au to Irish sports betting operator Paddy Power, Tripp has quietly acquired  embattled operator Betezy for a reported sum of AUS $10 million (£5.42 million)

The acquisition of Betezy.com.au, will see Tripp and a group of investors take over operations of the Australian sports betting operator, with a view to compete against the more established online bookmakers in the region. Tripp and investors have acquired the database and online operations of Betezy, it is unknown whether the group will look to rename and re-brand Betezy.

Matthew Tripp has already had success in the Australian sports betting marketing having acquired Sportsbet.com.au in 2005, Tripp would sell the sports book to Paddy Power for AUS $ 338 million (£180 million)

Tripp is said to have registered a new company with the Australian Chamber of Commerce – Beteasy. Further regional news reports suggest that Tripp may look to further acquire smaller igaming operators in the region in order to consolidate operations, increase existing assets and gain new customers.

Tripp is a well known figure in Australian business and passionate sports fans, who has shares in Australian football A-League outfit the Melbourne Heart and rugby league club t Melbourne Storm. Tripp has an estimated wealth of AUS $150 million (£81 million)

Tripp is yet to receive a new licence from regulators in the Northern Territory. Once this occurs he is expected to launch new operations under the Beteasy brand in May 2014.
