Industry horse and greyhound racing content supplier SIS has confirmed that it has reached an agreement to acquire Newcastle and Sunderland greyhound racing stadia from William Hill.

Confirming the acquisition this morning, SIS governance detailed that the deal ‘underpins the firm’s commitment to ‘provide a strong programme of competitive greyhound racing for the foreseeable future’.

Moving forward the Tyne & Wear venues will integrate SIS broadcast systems, linking the stadia with the firm’s portfolio of rights from Monmore, Crayford, Hove, and Romford. Newcastle and Sunderland racing punters will further benefit by being able to watch in-venue streams SIS UK and international syndicated content.

Updating the market, SIS CEO Gary Smith, commented on the deal: “The acquisition of Newcastle and Sunderland is very exciting for us and our customers and strengthens our position as a distributor of high-quality pictures and data for greyhound racing.”

In his acquisition notes, Smith further detailed that the purchased stadia would not undertake any significant structural changes, stating that it would keep the high standards set by William Hill which had proved popular with race punters.

William Hill Retail Managing Director Nicola Frampton supported Smith’s comments, stating that the firm had found the right buyers for the greyhound racing venues;

“Newcastle and Sunderland greyhound stadia are among the best run in the industry and we would like to thank the teams at both tracks for all their hard work and success during William Hill’s period of ownership.

“In looking at options for the tracks the continuation of greyhound racing at the stadia and the safeguarding of employment were paramount.  We are therefore pleased to have reached agreement with SIS who are the right owner to take the business forward over the long term.”
