Finland’s Economic Committee has announced the appointment of Olli Sarekoski as new Chief Executive of state-owned gambling enterprise Veikkaus.
This month the committee had informed that state-owned gambling assets RAY, Fintoto and Veikkaus would operate under the principal brand of ‘Veikkaus’, following 2015s decision to merge all enterprises under a single entity.
Promoted to CEO of Veikkaus, Sarekoski has held numerous executive positions within the operator during his eight years’ service.
On taking leadership of Veikkaus, Sarekoski detailed to Finnish business news sources that the committee had made the right choice in merging its assets as Veikkaus would need to meet new consumer demands against the raising popularity of international operators targeting Finland.
Sarekoski would further note that a merged Veikkaus enterprise would focus on creating market-leading digital offerings for Finnish consumers.
Veikkaus governance declared that Sarekoski was the best man for its leadership, following a six month extensive search of candidates both internal and external to its operations.
