Klass DiJkhoff the newly placed Nederland’s Secretary of State Justice, has stated that he will ensure that the progression of online gambling licensing and regulation continues under his term.

DiJkhoff appointment follows last months forced retirement of Fred Teeven, the creator of the Nederland’s online gambling bill. Teeven announced his retirement after being accused of misleading parliament over a 2001 compensation payment to a convicted drug trafficker.

Speaking to Dutch news sources DiJkhoff stated that his office was committed to completing and processing the regulation of online gambling. The new secretary further noted that he supports all the provisions that have been put forward by his predecessor.

Jan Suyver the Managing Director of Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has welcomed the quick appointment of DiJkhoff ahead of the Dutch regional elections. Suyver has additionally revealed that 200 operators have expressed interest in market licensing.

Kansspelautoriteit will look to support DiJkhoff as the nation’s online gambling looks to be processed in the coming months. The regulator further stated that at present over a million Dutch consumers were active in the online gambling market wagering on unlicensed verticals.
